Plain keys with special functions


Key When / where Description
The following keys are available when the READER window is frontmost. The reader window is activated when you see a message opened in it's own window, not in preview mode
C Reader Copy the message to another folder
D Reader and Folder Delete the message. (Keeping CTRL pressed will bypass the deleted messages folder - if you use that folder) The <del> key works in the Folder as well. Messages deleted from the deleted messages folder will be gone forever.
F Reader and Folder Forward the message using the forwarding menu
M Reader and Folder Move the message to a folder
R Reader and Folder Reply to the message (activate reply options window)
Shift R Reader and Folder Reply with a standard template (PM6-filetype)
X Reader Switch to the inner part of a multipart message and display it.
Since version 4.
Z Reader Toggle the address ribbon narrow / wide
Since version 4.
+ or = Reader Switch to next message, when available
- (minus) Reader Switch to previous message, when available
Backspace Reader Toggle show all headers. In version 4: Jump to Raw View pane.
Esc Reader Close window
Spacebar Reader Read next full page
CTRL+Spacebar Reader Read previous full page
The following keys are available in the editor, that is when you create a message, reply to a message or forward a message with editing.
Home Editor To the beginning of the current line
End Editor To the end of the current line
Pg Up Editor One screen up
Pg Down Editor One screen down
Ins Editor Switch from insert to overwrite mode
Shift arrow's Editor Select text, also with Shift-PgUp and Shift-Pgdn
CTRL+Shift+B Editor Start a new message using Boilerplate template
CTRL+Shift+N Folders listing Start a new message to the address in the To: field (Added in v4.31)
CTRL+Shift+S Editor Swap the content of the To: and Cc: field (Added in v4.20)
The following keys are available when a folder is the frontmost window, in either preview or listmode.
M Reader and Folder Move the message to a folder
R Reader and Folder Reply to the message, open the reply options window
Shift R Reader and Folder Reply with a standard template (PM6-filetype)
The following keys are available when the folders listing is the frontmost window, in either preview or listmode.
Enter Folders Open the selected folder, message or tray, activating any on open attached filter rule.
PgUp Folders Move one screen up
PgDn Folders Move one screen down
Left arrow Folders Close current tray.
Right arrow Folders Open current tray.
' (up ) Preview Switch to previous opened window
Ins Folders Create a new folder or tray

Function keys


Key Description
F1 The place to find all the information one need to know to work with Pegasus Mail for Windows. Press F1 whenever Help is needed.
 
F2 Display a list of Local users on the system.
 
F3 Display a list of Address books.
Shift F3 Quick lookup - expand partial entry, when in To:, Cc: or Bcc: field in the Editor window
 
F4 Display a list of Logged in users.
Not available when in Novell NDS mode.
Shift F4 Enlarge current window
Alt F4 Close the application (It's advised to use File | Exit instead).
Ctrl F4 Close current window; Esc will work in most windows.
 
F5 Toggle wrap long lines in the reader
F5 While in a folder, do an incremental search on subject or From field.
Ctrl F5 Toggle line wrap in fixed right margin
 
F6 Display a list of distribution lists
Ctrl F6 Switch to next open window
 
F7 Switch to Attachments window pane, when in Message Editor or Special Message options Window pane
Shift F7 Create a new message, using a template
 
F8 Switch to message editor window pane, when in Attachments or Special pane of that window.
F8 Select the current line; available only in the reader window.
Ctrl F8 Enlarge message editor, in other words, hide the upper part (To:,Cc:, etc) of the window.
 
F9 Switch to Special message options window pane, when in Attachments or in Editor window pane.
Ctrl F9 In a Folder, start the Select function. Select multiple messages using an advanced selection mechanism.
Ctrl Shift F9 Undo the Select sort on top. Resort the folder using the last used sort order.
 
F10 Toggle: Menu to Active window
Alt F10 Activate options (Preferences, General settings) menu, used to be Shift F10 in older versions.
Shift F10 Activate right mouse context menu. (The windows key "Context menu" works as well)
 
F11 Set colour of selected text in editor
F11 Colour message(s) in a folder (either when closed or opened in the reader)
 
F12 Toggle mono spaced view on/off when a message is opened in it's own window.
F12 Show message properties when a message is selected in a folder or when a message is open in preview mode.

Ctrl+ + (numeric keypad)   Folders Expand the column width to fit the screen.
Ctrl+ - (numeric keypad)   Folders Decrease the column width to see more on the screen.
